Vote for Greystones in ‘Best Places’ survey
Greystones has made the shortlist in a prestigious competition to find Ireland’s ‘Best Places’.
Now the town needs the public to vote for Greystones in the competition organised by the Royal Town Planning Institute Ireland (RTPI).
Greystones is up against towns and attractions such as Cobh in Cork; Dingle in Kerry; Kilkenny City; Abbeyleix in Laois and the Western Greenway in Mayo. The 10 were whittled down by judges from an original panel of 95. The aim of the competition is to celebrate some of the most attractive and inspiring places and the role planners have played in helping to protect or shape them for communities across Ireland. A spokesperson for Greystones Municipal District said: ‘This nomination comes hot on the heels of the recent endorsement of Greystones in the national press. From its beautiful coastal location and marina to its wonderful sport and leisure facilities, not to mention its gourmet restaurants, great schools and transport links, what’s not to love about Greystones?’
There are three ways to cast a vote. Either go to rtpi. org.uk, email to contact@rtpiireland.org or tweet your vote using the hashtag RTPIrelandsBestPlaces, all by Friday, October 12.
‘Originally a small fishing village, Greystones has grown significantly with the redevelopment of its harbour but has kept its village atmosphere. Housing, road networks and facilities have been improved to cater for the growth,’ reads the entry.
