SOME 330,000 readers of National Geographic Traveller magazine in India have been reading all about Powerscourt Estate and Ireland.

The September edition of the hugely popular travel magazine includes a major article profiling some of the many things to see and do in Ireland.

Tourism Ireland in India invited journalist Kounteya Sinha to visit.

One of Wicklow’s favourite places made quite an impact on Sinha.

The resulting article tells readers about the ‘grand Powerscourt Estate in Enniskerry’.

‘We are delighted with the excellent coverage in National Geographic Traveller magazine. It’s a great way of showcasing the island of Ireland to a large audience of potential Indian visitors – helping us to spread the word about what makes a holiday in Ireland so memorable,’ said Beena Menon, Tourism Ireland India.

‘Publicity is an important element of our overall promotional programme, helping to raise awareness through the Indian media of the many things to see and do on a holiday on the island of Ireland.’

In 2017, we welcomed around 38,000 visitors from India to the island of Ireland, according to Tourism Ireland.

As the relationship is developed, the body hopes that even more people from India will pay a visit to Ireland in the coming years.
