GARDAÍ in the South Wicklow village of Carnew would appreciate the help of the public in their investigations into a spate of break-ins that occurred at the weekend.

Thousands of Euro worth of video and television equipment was stolen in one the break-ins at ‘Future Videos’ run by Ann Mahony.

Carried out under the cover of darkness, it is known that the robberies on Monday morning took place around 4 a.m. which was the time that a clock stopped at when thieves knocked it off a shelf.

A laundry next door was also hit by the mean robbers, as was a chip shop, where about €100 in case was stolen from the charity donation boxes.

A car stolen in Athy on Sunday night was used to carry out the Carnew robbery.

The contents of the car were dumped in Carnew and the gang then stole another car and made off in the Tullow direction.
