Two new tennis courses

THE ladies first team representi­ng Wicklow Tennis Club have advanced to the semi-finals of the Dublin Lawn Tennis Council, Class 2, Senior League.

They play Fitzwillia­m away this Sunday.

The fourth team has qualified for the quarter-finals and they will play away to Terenure (CYM) this Saturday.

Wicklow Tennis Club will host an U16 Boy’s Autumn Matchplay during the mid-term break on Thursday, November 1 and Friday, November 2 and the club looks forward to welcoming boys from other Leinster clubs for this event.

Two new programmes coming up at Wicklow Tennis Club include ‘Ladies in Tennis’ and ‘ Tennis for the Active Retired’. The ladies tennis is for non members and will run for five Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, starting on November 6. The active retired programme for non members will run for five Wednesday’s, from 12.15p p.m. to 1.15 p.m., starting on November 7.

Club coach Ashley Wynne is running both these programmes. There will be a maximum of 12 per course and anyone wishing to participat­e is asked to email info@wicklowten­nisclub.com to register. Both these courses are supported by Wicklow County Council.
