PUBLIC MEETING – IMPACT OF DEVELOPMENT AT BULLFORD/MAIN STREET.

A public meeting was held in St Patrick’s Hall last Tuesday and was attended by a large crowd. The agenda was to make Kilcoole residents aware of the imminent housing development at Bullford leading onto the Main Street. There were a large number of concerns outlined by Cllrs Tom Fortune and Cllr Grainne McLoughlin including traffic, parking, health and safety, lack of required studies including Impact Study, Retail Study, Community Facilities Study, lack of a cohesive town centre, waste water capacity, poor streetscape design, lack of public consultation prior to going straight to An Bord Pleanala under a new law SHD – Strategic Housing Development which has put this project on to a fast track. Kilcoole is the first town in Wicklow to be affected by this SHD law.

Leaflets have been delivered around the village giving further information on how to make observations and objections. The deadline to make a submission is next Monday, October 15, and each submission needs to be accompanied by a fee of €20. Mark all submissions Case 302552-18. Send to the secretary, An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1, or have your submission included in a group delivery will take place on Monday next.

You are welcome to drop in your letter enclosing the fee to Tom Fortune, Grainne McLoughlin or to Bella’s Bubbles. Residents are also asked to email the County Manager Frank Curran at fcurran@wicklowcoco. ie or corporate@wicklowcoco. ie to request the proposal be returned for further studies and consultation to Wicklow County Council. There are also petitions in various places around the village which can be signed to enable our TDs to represent the views of the community.

NOTES

If you would like to have a notice included in the Kilcoole Notes please email jenniferwicklow2016@hotmail. com. of Geraldine and Nathan travelled to take on Arklow United and after a tough series of games the team continued toimprove. On the day best were John Paul Dunleavy, Hubert Wyborski, Finn Heffernan and Leon White. Our 8’s hosted Coolboy Rangers and again showedsome fine form in an evenly contested contest. On the day Theo Messitt, Colin Healy and Tyler Doyle stood out. In the 9’s we hosted Ashford Rovers and atthe end of their series of games there was very little between both sides. Onthe day on the scoresheet for Newtown were JV Kelly, Alex Ryan, Lucas Dowdall, Jack Barlow, John Turley and Felix Geoghegan. A week is a long timein football and so it proved for the 10’s as they played away to Sporting Greystones where they came out the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline. The homeside were determined to reverse last week’s result and this they duly did. Max Roche scored the Newtown goal but unfortunately despite a lot of effort toomany Newtown players never reached the heights of recent weeks. Our under-12s lost 6-1 at home to Greystones ‘B’ in a game where nothing went right forthem. Hannah Martin scored the Newtown goal. Our under14s played their firstgame of the shield at home to Roundwood and they ran out deserving 6-2 winners. Jason Carthy with a hat trick and singles from Charlie Sullivan, Shane Dunleavy and Bobby Dowling accounted for the goals scored. On the day, Martin Kelly, Ryan Clarke and Marcel Kocajda were among those that starred.
