Grateful Windgates residents present defibrillator to Greystone Fire Station
RESIDENTS of Windgates presented Greystones Fire Station with a defibrillator to thank the fire fighters for their hard work to save their homes during a blaze on Bray Head during the summer.
The defibrillator was unveiled last Thursday evening at the station.
Minister Simon Harris also presented certificates to residents who undertook CPR training.
‘It was a lovely night to say thank you to our amazing fire fighters for all their work throughout the summer during the fires on Bray Head and to talk with neighbours and friends,’ said Minister Harris.
The people of Cliff Road clubbed together to raise the money for the life-saving device, following the July blaze.
Flames came as close as 50 metres to the houses, with occupants forced to flee their homes during the fire. The residents felt they wanted to do something to show their appreciation for those who worked so hard to save their lives and property. The community raised close to €1,000 in a collection, using the money to buy the AED.
Guests, including members of the Coast Guard, gardaí and residents, heard from Ciaran Hayden of Greystones Fire Service, Cathaoirleach of Greystones Municipal District Nicola Lawless, and Windgates resident Joe Taylor.
