Property prices in Wicklow up by €20,000

Property prices in Wicklow have risen by €20,000 in the last year, according to the latest MyHome.ie Property Report in associatio­n with Davy.

The median asking price for a property in the county now stands at €320,000, according to the report for the third quarter.

While this is no change from the previous quarter, it’s a rise of €20,000 or 6.6 per cent from this time last year.

This means that the asking price for a home in Wicklow is now at its highest level since it stood at €339,000 nearly eight years ago in quarter four, 2010.

The rise in prices was reflected in the asking price for a three-bed semi-detached house in the county, which rose by 1.3 per cent in the last quarter from €295,000 to €299,000. Annually this is also up 6 per cent on 12 months ago when prices stood at €285,000.

Prices reached their highest level in quarter two in 2010 when they stood at €310,000.

The asking price for a four-bed semi-detached house in Wicklow fell 2 per cent in the last quarter at €362,000. Annual prices were down 4.5 per cent on this time last year when they stood at €380,000.

The average time to go sale agreed on a property in the county now stands at three months.

The median asking price for new sales nationally is €268,000, down €2,000 from the last quarter. The price in Dublin is €375,000, down €9,000.

Newly listed properties are seen as the most reliable indicator of future price movements.
