Courageous Nathan Flynn wins Woman’s Way award
NATHAN Flynn (9) from Bray was in Dublin recently to pick up a Woman’s Way and Pharmaton Children’s Award for outstanding courage.
The winners were announced earlier this month at a special lunch at The Hive in Airfield Estate.
Each winner walked away with a goodie bag and certificate.
Hundreds of nominations were submitted by parents, relatives, friends, teachers and communities from all over Ireland. The judging panel of well-known Irish personalities had the daunting task of sifting through all the entries to whittle them down to category winners.
Nathan wasn’t just nominated once in our Children’s Awards, he was nominated by five different people.
In June 2017 he was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumour.
He had an operation to remove 98 per cent of the tumour but Nathan lost the ability to walk, speak or swallow, his hearing in his left ear and had double vision in his left eye.
While undergoing chemotherapy, Nathan has made huge strides in his recovery, regaining his speech, walking and returning to school this March.
