Eamon’s collection heads for Croke Park
AVOCA, Wicklow and London hurling legend Eamon Murray handed his extensive medal and trophy collection over to Croke Park last week.
The collection, housed in Fitzgerald’s in Avoca for a number of years, will now be assigned a place in the GAA Museum in the new year and will be on display for visitors to from all over the country browse.
Eamon was joined by his wife Jean and some close friends along with Wicklow GAA chairman Martin Fitzgerald and members of the Avoca GAA Club.
‘I’m delighted that the medals are going to Croke Park,’ said Eamon who also expressed sincere gratitude to Fitzgeralds for housing them in a special unit in the pub.
Eamon’s medals were won in a hurling career in London and Wicklow that spanned 60 years.
