October 1986

A new Mecca has opened in Bray for the physically fit and sporting minded.

For there’s been a major addition to the leisure facilities of the town with the opening of a new sports complex at St Thomas’ Community College. And while the new hall is attached to the school, the clear message to townsfolk is that this centre is open to all and everyone is welcome.

Although it has yet to be officially opened, the complex has already been in use since the beginning of last month. But don’t worry, there is still time left for any local groups and clubs to make a regular booking. Inside, the hall offers 565 square feet of playing space which is marked for basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer and badminton.

There are also table tennis facilities and outside, six tennis courts, three outdoor basketball courts and a full size soccer pitch.

All this comes with changing rooms and showers while there are also plans to provide a shop and coffee dock.
