Playground works to start soon

-

WORK on a new playground in Roundwood should commence next month. District Engineer Kevin Scanlon provided an update at Monday’s meeting of Wicklow Municipal District.

Haffey Playgrounds have been awarded the contract and the works should take between four to five months to complete.

Equipment planned for the playground includes a Quadruple Kondor Swing, Butterfly Spring Rocker, Flower Jumping Plates, Beginners Walk, Standup Sea-saw, Salvia Unit, Kilmandscharo Unit and a Satellite Carousel. Progress is also been made regarding the playground planned for Laragh. It will be located in the grounds of the Brockah Resource Centre and Play and Leisure Services were awarded the contract.

‘We are meeting next week just to tease out their schedule and see when they can start,’ said Mr Scanlon. He also revealed that repairs works had been carried out to eight pieces of playground equipment within the district, seven of which were due to wear and tear from use and only one due to vandalism. Cllr John Snell expressed his delight at both developments, noting that most of the larger towns within the district will soon have a playground.
