Swimmers tackle Bray to Greystones for Gavin fund

-

A GROUP of swimmers recently made their way from Naylor’s Cove in Bray to the Cove in Greystones, raising almost €4,000 for the Gavin Glynn Foundation. They almost doubled their fundraising target of €2,000.

The swim was inspired by Ger Devin’s Channel swim in September, in aid of the same cause.

In honour of Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and inspired by Ger’s chal- lenge, a local group decided to tackle a Cove to Cove swim from Bray to Greystones. Money raised will go directly towards transportation, including flights, car hire and ground transport, for children and families travelling for treatment.

The fund will also provide transportation to and from airports, and accommodation to medical centres.

Food and living expenses for the dura- tion of the child’s treatment while abroad are provided by the foundation, as well as a travel pack to include toys for the child and siblings travelling.

Donations remain open at idonate.ie.
