Home Care PaCkages

A HOME Care Package is a set of services provided by the HSE to support older people to remain in their own home rather than remain in hospital or be admitted to a nursing home. Home Care Packages are provided by organisations that have been approved by the HSE following a detailed tender process. There is no means test and you do not need to have a medical card.

If you are approved for a HCP, you will be given a list of 12 providers to choose from, however most of these are based in Dublin or further afield and do not provide services locally. One company on the list is Bluebird Care of Broomhall Business Park, Rathnew (we are listed as our Dun Laoghaire address on HSE list of providers issued) who cur- rently provide services to many HSE and private customers throughout the County.

Bluebird Care employ local Care Assistants who are QQI trained in Care Of The Elderly and Care Skills, they all need to have Patient Moving & Handling, are Garda Vetted and reference checked. Our Care Assistants are regularly supervised as they work in the community and both our staff and customers have access to a 24 hour emergency phone. Regular reviews of our service are carried out with our customer s and families and the HSE carry out regular Audits of the service being provided.
