Public meeting on hill farming
A public meeting on hill farming takes place in the Glendalough
Hotel in a joint venture by Wicklow Cheviot Sheepowners and
Wicklow IFA.
Guest speakers on the night of
Thursday, October 25, will be IFA
Hill Chairman Flor McCarthy and
Minister of State Andrew Doyle and other local politicians.
The implications of the recent budget to the farming sector will also be discussed, along with all issues relating to farming in the
Wicklow Uplands.
The meeting will also recognise the important role hill and commonage farmers provide in maintaining and protecting the biodiversity of upland habitats.
‘We hope as many people as possible turn out on the night,’ said John Malone, Chairperson of the Wicklow Cheviot Sheepowners.
The meeting gets under way at 8 p.m. in the Glendalough Hotel.
