Kerry visitors in study visit to uplands
THE MacGillycuddy Reeks Mountain Access Forum spent two days exploring the Wicklow Uplands region as part of a study visit.
Wicklow Uplands Council organised and hosted the Forum, who were the second of three upland community groups to visit Wicklow under the Upland Visit Study Scheme 2018.
The itinerary focuses on knowledge sharing, locally led sustainable agri-environment practices, rural enterprises and the management and promoting of recreational use in the region.
The MacGillycuddy Reeks Mountain Access Forum was established in May 2014 with the aim of protecting, managing and sustainably developing the MacGillycuddy Reeks Mountain Range in County Kerry.
Members of Wicklow Uplands Council look forward to visiting the MacGillycuddy Reeks next month, to continue the exchange of knowledge and shared learning by seeing first hand, the work that takes place in County Kerry.
The visits, which are taking place nationwide over the coming weeks, are funded through the Upland Study Visit Grant Scheme 2018, an initiative is funded by The Heritage Council in partnership with the Irish Uplands Forum.
