ST MARY’S CHURCH

Copies of Altar Lists of the Dead: These are available at the back of the church – please complete and return in envelopes provided. They can be left into sacristy or parish office. Mass is offered on the First Friday of each month for all those whose names are on the Altar List of the Dead.

Annual Mass for the Deceased: Will be celebrated in St Mary’s Parish Church on Friday, November 2, at 7.30 p.m. All those whose funeral Masses took place in the parish since November 2017 will be included in the Mass and if you have a friend or relative you would like to be remembered please contact Margaret or Joyce in the parish offices so we may include your loved one’s name and light a candle for them.

St Mochonog’s: Calling All Volunteers. We would like to provide tea or coffee and refreshmen­ts after Mass in Kilmacanog­ue on certain Sundays and special occasions. We are looking for volunteers to be part of our hospitalit­y team. If you are interested in helping out please contact the parish office at 01 202 1882.

Website: The parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Enniskerry, Kilmacanog­ue, Curtlestow­n and Glencree is updating its Parish Website. We are designing a simpler yet feature rich website for our parish that is relevant, simple to use and which reaches out to communicat­e with you, our parish community.

Legion of Mary – Kilmacanog­ue Presidium: Meet at 11.30 a.m. every Tuesday in the sacristy of St Mochonog’s. New members are most welcome. Group recite the Rosary on the first Saturday of each month at midday at the Grotto in the church grounds. Click on the link legionofma­ry.ie to view website.

HISTORY SOCIETY

The next meeting of the Enniskerry History Society will take place at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, in the Powerscour­t Arms and Country House Hotel in the village at which James Scannell will present his lecture on ‘The Torpedoing of the RMS Leinster – October 10, 1918, and Some Wicklow Connection­s’ – all welcome, admission €5.

The next events that may be of interest for Enniskerry History Society members and supporters are tonight’s (Wednesday) 6 p.m. lecture by Colm Lennon on ‘Richard Stanihurst (15471618): Dublin’s Earliest Historian’ to the Old Dublin Society in Dublin City Library and Archive, 138144 Pearse Street, Dublin two. All welcome – admission free; tomorrow’s (Thursday) 7.30 p.m. Frank Mitchell Lecture of the Royal Society of Antiquarie­s of Ireland which will be presented by Geraldine Stout on ‘Reading the Irish Cistercian Landscape’ in the Society’s 63 Merrion Square, Dublin two, premises – all welcome; admission free; next Monday morning’s 11.30 a.m. Shankill Tidy Towns historic walk ‘4 Castles and a Corn Mill, led by Rob Goodbody – meet at Shanganagh Castle, Bray Road, Shankill – Please note that this is a community activity organised by volunteers who accept no liability for injuries or loss caused to participan­ts in this walk; the Thursday, November 1, 8 p.m. lecture by Ruth Ferguson on ‘The original Houses of Belfield’ to the Mount Merrion Historical Society in the community centre, North Avenue, Mount Merrion, Co. ENNISKERRY LIBRARY

Opening hours for the library located on Church Road, Enniskerry, are – Tuesday and Friday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. New members to the library are always very welcome. Please phone 01 2864339 for further informatio­n or to renew books. Please note that the library will be closed this Saturday due to the October Bank Holiday weekend.

MEALS ON WHEELS

This service operates in Enniskerry and Kilmacanog­ue and delivers hot meals every Tuesday and Thursday to older people in their homes. It’s an opportunit­y to connect with the community and provide a hot meal and social contact call to older people in the area. We are looking for.

volunteer drivers who can give up two or three hours twice a month to facilitate this much needed service. Interested volunteers should contact Maoiliosa Kelly at 086 8322466 for further informatio­n.

CHANGE OF BUS OPERATOR

Last Sunday Go-Ahead Ireland took over the operation of former Dublin Bus route 185 and will now operate Bray – Enniskerry service. Timetables for the Go-Ahead Ireland service were distribute­d to the public during the week by representa­tives of Transport for Ireland. Timetables can be downloaded from their website goaheadire­land.ie.
