Public meeting on Delgany road works scheme

-

There was a great turnout to a public information meeting at the Horse & Hound recently, to discuss plans for road works in Delgany village.

There were approximately 80 people in attendance. One attendee said that it was great to see so much passion to do the right thing for Delgany village.

The residents were preparing submissions for Wicklow County Council to express their suggestions and views on the plans.

The attendees heard presentations from both Wicklow County Council and Delgany Community Council at the meeting and there were very good questions and engagement from the floor.

Organisers are currently preparing a full Q&A document recording the items which came up in the meeting.

‘ There were a lot of views expressed at the meeting,’ said a spokeswoman for Delgany Community Council. ‘DCC will debate and possibly reconsider what will or will not be included in our submission. We encourage anyone who would like a say to submit a personal sub- mission prior to the November 12 deadline.

The submissions can be made in writing to Transportation, Water and Emergency Services, Wicklow County Council, County Buildings, Station Road, Wicklow Town, County Wicklow on or before 12 midday on Monday, November 12. The Delgany Accessibility Scheme extends from Bellevue Hill junction through the village to the Killincarrig Roundabout to the east of the village.

The proposed scheme incorporates recommendations from Road User Audit carried out in 2012.

Elements include junction improvements at Bellevue Hill junction, Convent Road junction, Delgany Wood Avenue junction, and footpath improvements along the R762. There would also be traffic calming on the R762 and road widening opposite Priory Gate junction.

Officials at Wicklow County Council will assess all submissions made. They will then present a report on submissions and the scheme, with amendments if required, to the elected representatives.
