Sunday November11­th Centenary of the 1918 Armistice – 11 a.m. – Morning Prayer, including Act of remembranc­e with solemn muffled peal of bells and address by local historian: ‘How Bray celebrated the Armistice’. All welcome; 12.30 p.m. – Celebrator­y peal of bells; 1 p.m. – Registrati­on for ‘Come and Sing’; 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.:. Rehearsal, singers; 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Rehearsal singers and players; 7 p.m. to 8.15 p.m.: ‘Come and Sing’ The Armed Man ( Mass for Peace), Karl Jenkins; poetry reading; Conclusion.

HOLY REDEEMER PARISH

Evening Mass: There will be a 7 p.m. Evening Mass today (Wednesday), tomorrow (Thursday) and on Friday.

Holy Redeemer Youth Centre Open Night: The Youth Centre is always interested in new members which offers a friendly, fun environmen­t including movie nights, organised trips, baking and much more. Open for sixth class on a Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Open for first years on a Wednesday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., on a Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on a Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Altar Servers: We are currently looking for new Altar Servers to expand our team. If you have already celebrated your First Communion and would like to join the team, please contact Michael in the sacristy or call in to the parish office Monday to Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Annual Bereavemen­t Mass: The annual Bereavemen­t Mass to remember all our loved ones, especially those who died during the past year, will be celebrated on Monday, November 19, at 7 p.m. There will be light refreshmen­ts afterwards in the Coffee Dock.

Wall of Remembranc­e: If you wish to bring memorial cards or photograph­s for our Wall of remembranc­e please leave them in to the sacristy during the week.

Photos for our Sacred Space: If your loved one’s funeral took place in Holy Redeemer, please feel free to bring a photo (if you have not already done so) and hand it in to the sacristy. This will then be placed in the folder at the Sacred Space. ‘As We live, They too shall live, as We remember them’.

November Altar List of the Dead: The envelopes for the November altar list of the dead are available on the tables around the church. All those whose names are listed, will be remembered at Masses on the feast of All Saints, All Souls, and the First Friday of every month. Please return envelopes to the sacristy or parish office.

The Nazarine Community Charismati­c Prayer Group: Invite you to Life in the Spirit Seminars. The First Speaker was Brendan Shanahan (Founder of Laus Deo Healing Ministries) in the Little Flower Hall, beside the Holy Redeemer Church, last Wednesday night and these seminars continue from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays for the next six weeks.

Young at Heart Dinners: Every Friday at 12.30 p.m. Come along and enjoy great food and a game of bingo.

Wicklow Dementia Support Group: Meets in St Peter’s Parish Hall every Monday from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The Monday Club is a social club for people with memory loss and their family carers. Support activities, fun and outings. For more informatio­n contact 089 428692.

Altar List of the Dead envelopes and Sheets: Altar list of the dead envelopes and sheets are available for collection at the back of the church. All, whose names are listed will be remembered at Masses celebrated on the feast of All Saints, the feast of All Souls, and at the 9.30 a.m. Mass on the First Monday of every month throughout the year. On Tuesday, November 6, Mass will be celebrated at 7.30 p.m. to remember all of our parishione­rs who have died during the past year. Feast of All Saints – Tomorrow (Thursday): Vigil Mass today (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. Masses tomorrow (Thursday) at 8 a.m. and 10.30 a.m.

‘Take Me Home Country Roads’ – An Evening with St Fergal’s Men’s Choir: A Singalong Country Themed Evening with all your favourite songs complete with lighting and beautiful visual backdrops in St Anthony’s Room of St Fergal’s Church on Sunday, November 25, at 7.30 p.m. Admission free but by ticket only. All Attendees are invited to make a donation to the parish on the night of the concert. Tickets available from the parish office or any member of St Fergal’s Men’s Choir.

Lectio Divina: A prayerful reflection on the following Sundays gospel takes place in Villa Pacis every Wednesday, after 10.30 a.m. Mass.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group: Will have an additional drop in morning at the Villa Pacis on the first Friday of every month starting this Friday after the 10.30 a.m. Mass for those af- fected by grief and loss.

QOP YOUTH CLUB

Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club programme for the rest of the year includes night hill walking, indoor bowls, night time forest walk, swimming, snorkellin­g, football, Christmas party, survival skills training, and trips to various places of interest. DIVING CLUB

Bray Divers had an excellent diving day in Portroe Slate Quarry near Nenagh, County Tipperary. This quarry flooded in the 1920s and the water reaches down to 40 metres. A number of stone walls, building remains, and stone roadway are very much intact. Small fish arte to be seen and some large eels have been observed. Divers included Ann, Dave, Brendan, Cormac, and Albert. A return visit is planned for next month.

LIONS CLUB YOUNG AMBASSADOR

Bray Lions Club has begun its search for a young ambassador who will represent the club in an internatio­nal competitio­n. Young people aged under-19 in June 2019 who are making a contributi­on to their local community through voluntary work, sporting activity or good citizenshi­p. A young ambassador will be selected to represent Ireland in the European Final. Bray Lions Club will sponsor its Young Ambassador’s participat­ion at all levels of the completion should they qualify. CUALANN SOCIETY

Brian White, chairman of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, will be the guest speaker for the 8 p.m. Thursday, November 15, meeting of the society in the Royal Hotel, Main Street, Bray, at which he will present his lecture ‘400 Years of the Brabazon Family – all welcome, admission €5.

Some other events of interest for members and supporters of the Bray Cualann Historical Society are tomorrow’s (Thursday) 8 p.m. lecture by Ruth Ferguson on ‘The original Houses of Belfield’ to the Mount Merrion Historical Society in the community centre, North Avenue, Mount Merrion, Co. Dublin. All welcome – admission €4/Students €2; Saturdays Medal Society of Ireland ‘Medal and Militaria Fair’ from 11 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. in the Knox Hall, Monkstown Village, Co. Dublin, at which visitors can buy, trade, swap or get free valuations/identifica­tions of medals; and next Monday night’s 7.30 p.m. talk by Robert Shaw, The Discovery Programme on ‘Surveying our archaeolog­ical landscapes and monuments: 3D documentat­ion challenges and opportunit­ies’ to the Royal Society of Antiquarie­s of Ireland in the Helen Roe Theatre, Society House, 63 Merrion Square South, Dublin two. Members and Supporters of the Bray Cualann Historical Society are also reminded that the Old Bray Society has published a special limited issue of the Bray Historical Record – ‘First World War Special Issue’ which recalls those from the county who took part in this conflict. WREATH LAYING

On Saturday, November 10, the Western Front Associatio­n (Dublin Branch) will hold a Short Ceremony of remembranc­e and Wreath Laying at 11 a.m. at the Bray War Memorial on the Quinsboro Road, Bray, to remember those from Bray and County Wicklow, who lost their lives in the First World War and to mark the centenary of the armistice of November 11, 1918, which ended hostilitie­s in this conflict. All welcome to attend.
