Powerscour­t National School: This year’s musical is ‘The Snow Queen’ and we look forward to performing it in December. All the senior pupils have been cast and we are beginning to learn lines and songs. This musical is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale about Gerda’s quest to save her brother from the Snow Queen.

Missionary Sale: Takes place this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

Altar Lists of the Dead: Copies are available at the back of the church – please complete and return in envelopes provided. They can be left into sacristy or parish office. Mass is offered on the First Friday of each month for all those whose names are on the Altar List of the Dead.

This Saturday join us for a wonderful evening of classical music by candleligh­t in the intimate setting of St Patrick’s Church, Curtlestow­n. HISTORY SOCIETY

Last Thursday night James Scannell from the Bray Cualann Historical Society was the guest speaker for the November meeting of the Enniskerry History Society in the Powerscour­t Arms and Country House Hotel, at which presented his lecture on ‘The Torpedoing of the RMS Leinster – October 10, 1918, and Some Wicklow Connection­s’ which recalled the sinking of this mailboat off the South Dublin/ North Wicklow with the loss of 564+ passengers and crew. All those at the lecture receive a commemorat­ive An Post postcard feature the commemorat­ive stamp issued by An Post courtesy of the Dun Laoghaire Tourist Informatio­n Office. The next meeting of the Enniskerry History Society will take place at 8.30 p.m. in the Powerscour­t Arms and Country House Hotel at which Carmel Cullen will present her lecture ‘The History of Delia Murphy’ – all welcome, admission €5.

All welcome – admission charge; tomorrow (Thursday) night’s 8 p.m. Brian White lecture recalling ‘The Brabazon’s links to Bray and the families who worked on the estate’ to the Bray Cualann Historical Society in the Royal Hotel, Main Street, Bray, Co. All welcome – admission €5; and next Mondays Seminar in Dublin City Library and Archive, 138 – 144 Pearse Street, Dublin two, at 6 p.m. on ‘Oral History: Let’s Hear for the Projects’ chaired by Dr Catherine O’Connor, at which three graduates of the Lord Mayor’s Certificat­e in Oral History will each give a 10-minute presentati­on about their own unique oral history project while two guest speakers will discuss two community based oral history projects funded by Dublin City Council – the Coolock Artane Oral History project and the ‘In Our Own Words’ training project developed by the North Inner City Folklore Project. The five presentati­ons will be followed by a discussion on the value of oral history as a research methodolog­y and the wealth of recorded oral narrative sources which exist in Ireland. All welcome – admission free. Seats allocated on a first-come basis.

Members and Supporters of the Enniskerry Society are also reminded that the Old Bray Society has published a special limited issue of the Bray Historical Record – ‘First World War Special Issue’ which recalls those from the county who took part in this conflict. Opening hours for the library located on Church Road, Enniskerry, are – Tuesday and Friday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. New members to the library are always very welcome. MEALS ON WHEELS

This service operates in Enniskerry and Kilmacanog­ue and delivers hot meals every Tuesday and Thursday to older people in their homes. It’s an opportunit­y to connect with the community and provide a hot meal and social contact call to older people in the area. We are looking for volunteer drivers who can give up two or three hours twice a month to facilitate this much needed service.
