Day of basketball for RehabCare services
CLIENTS of RehabCare Bray took part in a basketball tournament fundraising event recently at Ballywaltrim Community Centre.
RehabCare Bray runs a basketball programme for people who use the service, and this event was the perfect opportunity to show off their skills while meeting other people in the community.
Eight teams played in the tournament to raise funds for the service.
Attendees included local gardaí, representatives of St Kilian’s Community School, National Learning Network Bray and Stillorgan, and RehabCare Bray staff and service users.
‘We are delighted to have made this link and to be involved in this fundraiser,’ said Tracy Brophy of St Kilian’s.
‘It is rewarding for our students to get involved in the community outside of our school and to put their other skills to great use.
‘We have also gained valuable help for our students by them taking part in other activities that have been so kindly offered to us from Rehabcare, Scratch: computer programming and Sign Language, to name a few.’
Rebecca Power, service manager at RehabCare Bray said that they were very pleased to have collaborated with St Kilian’s, NLN and Bray gardaí, in what was a fun, active and competitive event.
‘Events like these not only serve to raise money for our programmes and resources in our three day-services in Bray, but also play a part in connecting us with other organisations and public service,s doing great things for the Bray Community.
