Greystones pictorial record launched

‘A Pictorial History of Greystones & Its Coastal Environs 1760 - 2018’ was launched last Sunday at Greystones Sailing Club.

The book was compiled by Derek Paine and Gary Paine.

It is a 296 page book, and the eighth Pictorial History book on Greystones. Books one to seven were published between 1993 and 2007.

The book is €35 and was available to buy at the launch. It then went on general sale on Monday, November 19, and is available from Greystones Antiques, next to the DART station in Greystones. This is the largest in the series to date and features colour images throughout, including photos, maps and documents.

Sections cover a range of topics, including when schooners sailed to Greystones, the Greystones Lifeboat and Greystones Coast Guards.

Other sections include The Brandy Hole, fishing, sailing, rowing, swim- ming, rugby, tennis and golf. as well as church Road, La Touche Place, Trafalgar Road and Victoria Road down the years.

In addition, the book includes the town’s connection­s with the Rising, WWI, suffragett­es, hotels and the electrific­ation of Greystones.
