Dickie Rock performs duet with Tommy at Earlsbrook

-

DICKIE Rock accepted an invitation recently to visit Tommy Moody at Earlsbrook Nursing home in Bray, to join him in singing a favourite, ‘From The Candy Store’.

Greystones man Tommy sings that number each week at the nursing home with a visiting musician, and is also a big fan of Dickie Rock. He knew him some years back, through their mutual friend, the late Tommy Hayden.

Tommy’s daughter Caroline thought it would be lovely if Dickie came to Earlsbrook to sing with her father. She managed to get a message to him, and he rang her and said it would be a pleasure. He came to Bray with a keyboard player, saying there would be no cover charge as it was a special visit for Tommy Moody.

‘Dad loves to sing,’ said Caroline, who said that Tommy was delighted to see the singer, and perform with him. Tommy also loves to garden, and generally keep busy as much as he can. They did a lovely duet, and Dickie sang and played for the residents for an hour. He was a big hit, and they all went wild for him. Caroline said that it was a very special occasion for everyone lucky enough to be there for the visit.

‘Dickie was an absolute gentleman,’ said Caroline, adding that she is very grateful to him for his kindness.
