Wicklow Triathlon Club toasts a successful year at awards night

WICKLOW Triathlon Club marked another year of success at their annual awards night held in the Druid’s Glen Hotel and Golf Resort.

MC for the night was Marie Burke who ensured proceeding­s ran as smoothly as possible. Dave McDonald compiled the side-show.

A raffle was also held which helped to raise a total of €1,065 for The Laura Lynn Foundation, Ireland’s children’s hospice care.

Various club members and athletes received awards during the course of the night. Club person of the year was Anne Hudson, while Trevor Conroy was the male athlete of the year and Gaby Dillon the female athlete of the year.

The award for most consistent athletes went to Danny Brennan and Lisa Bishop. Dan McCarthy and Fiona Kelly were the most improved athletes.

Rookies of the year were Stuart Dwyer and Moira Devlin. The male club race winner was Scott Graham and the female club race winner was Gaby Dillon. The club TT league winners were Joe Sheehy and Nicola Crean. Club TT league winner best newbies were Stuart Dwyer and Fiona Alston. The aquathon series winners were Damian McKeever and Fiona McBride. The best aquathon series newbies were Richard McKeown and Kathleen McAdam. Raffle prize sponsors included Amphibian King, Base2Race and Mitchell Wine Merchants.
