The Nep­tune Bridge Club ran a very suc­cess­ful open char­ity night last Thurs­day in aid of Wick­low Men­tal Health and the RNLI Wick­low Branch. Be­fore pre­sent­ing a cheque for €700 to each or­gan­i­sa­tion, club Pres­i­dent Cather­ine Black thanked the De la Salle Pas­toral Cen­tre, the mem­bers for at­tend­ing or con­tribut­ing, and the mem­bers who do­nated prizes to the raf­fle. She also thanked the mem­bers from neigh­bour­ing clubs for their sup­port and the busi­ness com­mu­nity who made dona­tions to the raf­fle.

Char­lie Burke, rep­re­sent­ing Wick­low Men­tal Health, thanked ev­ery­one for their gen­eros­ity, and then gave a brief out­line of the as­so­ci­a­tion’s work and pre­sented ev­ery­one with a book marker. John Hay­den who rep­re­sented the Wick­low RNLI, also thanked all present for their gen­eros­ity. He gave a brief up­date on the new tem­po­rary lifeboat which is about to ar­rive at the sta­tion. This will pro­vide tem­po­rary cover for Wick­low un­til the ar­rival of the new lifeboat, which is cur­rently un­der con­struc­tion. Ev­ery­one had a very en­joy­able night, many go­ing home with a prize from the mon­ster raf­fle.

The bridge win­ners on the night were: North/South – first, Cathal Louth and Sheila Mur­phy, sec­ond Carol Vam­beck and Gary Dowl­ing, third Joan D’Arcy and Noeleen Red­mond ;and East/West – Mary Flynn and Ber­nadette Roun­tree were first, sec­ond Sta­sia Ha­gan and Joan Mad­den, third Cather­ine Black and Phyl Lalor.
