The Neptune Bridge Club ran a very successful open charity night last Thursday in aid of Wicklow Mental Health and the RNLI Wicklow Branch. Before presenting a cheque for €700 to each organisati­on, club President Catherine Black thanked the De la Salle Pastoral Centre, the members for attending or contributi­ng, and the members who donated prizes to the raffle. She also thanked the members from neighbouri­ng clubs for their support and the business community who made donations to the raffle.

Charlie Burke, representi­ng Wicklow Mental Health, thanked everyone for their generosity, and then gave a brief outline of the associatio­n’s work and presented everyone with a book marker. John Hayden who represente­d the Wicklow RNLI, also thanked all present for their generosity. He gave a brief update on the new temporary lifeboat which is about to arrive at the station. This will provide temporary cover for Wicklow until the arrival of the new lifeboat, which is currently under constructi­on. Everyone had a very enjoyable night, many going home with a prize from the monster raffle.

The bridge winners on the night were: North/South – first, Cathal Louth and Sheila Murphy, second Carol Vambeck and Gary Dowling, third Joan D’Arcy and Noeleen Redmond ;and East/West – Mary Flynn and Bernadette Rountree were first, second Stasia Hagan and Joan Madden, third Catherine Black and Phyl Lalor.
