Forty-eight members of this busy club enjoyed the annual weekend bridge event on November 17 and 18. This event took place in the Coast Rosslare Strand hotel in Co Wexford. It was organised by members Terry Hayes and Sheila O’Leary, with the competitions and lesson by tournament directors Dolores Heatley and Phyllis Kavanagh.

On the first afternoon, Dorothy and Eric Levingston were first in North/ South. Second were Margaret and Joe Kelly and in third were Marie Magee and Bernie Slattery. In East/West first were Jean Bonus and Breege Henry. In second were Catherine King and Angela Nolan and in third Mairead Scanlan and Jane Bradshaw.

The overall results for Saturday night saw Mairead Scanlan and Jane Bradshaw in first, in second were Margaret and Joe Kelly, and joint third were Catherine King and Angela Nolan, Maura Gaskin and Bridie Nolan. The final session on Sunday morning offered the opportunity of scoring best individual players. First was Phil Billington, second Kathleen Johnson, third Bridie Nolan, fourth Breege Henry, fifth Marie Magee, sixth Jackie Dempsey, seventh Joe Kelly and eight Mags Smith. It was a very successful weekend enjoyed by all as was evidenced by the warm appreciation shown to all involved in the organising. Nobody went away empty handed as all members received a prize and new bridge skills for going forward.
