It was a busy but very successful weekend of football for the Glencormac Juniors.

The under-12s had two matches in two days. On Saturday they drew with Sporting Greystones with Billy Mansfield scoring a cracker from outside the box to give the Glens the lead and then Seán Mooney getting a vital equaliser as defeat would have meant a third place finish in the league.

So then on Sunday it was off to face Avonmore knowing that a win would clinch the runners-up spot. Goals from Ben Morgan and Alex Condon saw the Glens win 2-0 and each and every one of them were superb but the man of the match had to go to Billy Mansfield, who clinched it with some amazing defending. Well done Glen’s under-12s.

Then on Sunday, the Glens un- der-14s travelled to Wicklow Rovers for a winner take all final shield match with a place in the Shield Final up for grabs against Rathnew. What a performance the team put in on the day, coming out 4-2 winners with Oisin Kelly hitting three and Aaron Killick also finding the back of the net. This was an absolute brilliant effort from all the players in a very close game throughout with the score 2-2 at full time.

The Glens were almost out on their feet with the effort they all put in but in extra time, found another gear and went 3-2 up on the stroke of half time in extra time and then sealed it with another midway through the second period to seal their spot the Premier Shield Final this Saturday against Rathnew in Arklow. Rathnew have won every game this season but if our lads play like they did on Sunday, them will give them a run for their money. Best of luck, Glens.
