Wicklow athletes bring home biggest medal haul ever
WICKLOW athletes enjoyed a great evening in the Glenview Hotel recently to celebrate the biggest haul of Dublin City Marathon medals for Wicklow athletes in history.
The event was the presentation of the national and Leinster medals won by Sli Cualann and Wicklow runners and was a great success.
Sli Cualann’s Catherine O’Connor and Lynne Duffy along with Sarah Baryga of Bray Runners were presented with their national senior team bronze medals and a Leinster team gold medal.
Catherine and Lynne also received Leinster team gold medals with Catherine winning an individual gold medal in O-40.
Aisling Kirwan also won a silver individual Leinster medal in O-45 and the talented athlete also received a Leinster master team bronze medal along with Jean O’Kennedy and Carol Costello.
It was a good night for Jean O’Kennedy of Bray Runners who received a national gold medal and Leinster gold in O-55.
Sli Cualann’s Ian McGrath who won a national bronze medal and Leinster bronze in O-45 while Brian Gurrin of Kilcoole received a national silver medal and Leinster gold.
The aformentioned Sarah Baryga of Bray Runners who won national bronze and Leinster silver
Congratulations to Richard Kavanagh who won national and Leinster gold. Martin Francis won a national bronze in O-60 and a Leinster silver.
Eugene Doherty from Arklow won a Leinster bronze.
