Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except during July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confession­s are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannespar­ishshankil­l.com and then clicking onto video link.

Bethany Bereavemen­t Group: Operates Drop-In Centre in St Anne’s Resource Centre on the first Friday of each month at 10.30 a.m. The Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group is a voluntary ministry. The volunteers are trained to listen and to help the bereaved and grieving.

Bethany Bereavemen­t National Bereavemen­t Support for Adults: A five-week Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group programme will take place in St Anne’s Resource Centre, Shankill, from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. on the following dates in 2019 – Monday, January 14, Monday, January 21, Monday, January 28, Monday, February 4, and Monday, February 11, If you are feeling the pain of any loss at all, this series of meetings may offer support and consolatio­n in a place where healing can begin. This is a completely free service provided by trained volunteers in the community. UAC: The monthly meeting of the Union of the Catholic Apostolate will take place next Mon- day night at 8 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament to Pray for Vocations: Please join with the Pallottine Union of Catholic Apostolate to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life tomorrow (Thursday) from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in St Anne’s Church. Divine Mercy: The next meeting of the prayer group will be held in St Anne’s Resource Centre today (Wednesday) at 10.30 a.m.

St Anne’s Memorial Tree: During the month of November we will have a Memorial Tree at the side of the Altar. There are leaves that will be placed in baskets around the church if you would like a deceased loved one prayed for during this month. Please write their name on a leaf and hang it on the tree.

JPII Youth, Shankill: This group is aimed at people aged 13 to 18, who wish to meet new people, have fun and learn more about their faith. The next meeting takes place this Saturday from 7.30 p.m. from 9 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Garda vetted adult supervisor­s will be present for each meeting. We are seeking more adult volunteers who would be willing to supervise the group, one evening per month – please contact St Anne’s Resource Centre.

Christmas Fair: The St Anne’s Parish Christmas Fair will take place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Sunday, December 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please support our main fundraisin­g event of the year. Enjoy our Festive stalls: Wheel of fortune, Bottles, cakes, Crafts, Gifts, Hampers, Toys, Santa Claus. Please support our raffle. Secret Choir: New members needed for the Christmas Carol Service. The Secret Choir is inviting new singers and musicians to join them. Rehearsals take place each Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. in the church. Please come along and join in.

St Anne’s Shankill Parish Assembly: Takes place tonight (Wednesday), the feast of St Laurence O’Toole, at 8 p.m. in St Anne’s Church. Together let us begin to set out a realistic agenda for renewal of the church in the years to come – Why are we no longer captivatin­g so many of our people for the message of Jesus Christ?; Which models of pastoral activity and reflection are most likely to win the hearts of young people for the message of Jesus?; How do we teach young people about prayer?; How can our parish respond to these challenges?; Which aspects of our dominant culture make it harder for people to understand the message of Jesus?. In virtue of our baptism we are all church. Please show your love for our common family by participat­ing in the assembly.

This Sunday – World Day of the Poor: This Sunday, which is World Day of the Poor, we are called to make a serious examinatio­n of conscience to see if we are truly capable of hearing the cry of the poor.

BOOK SALE

The December First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n, takes place in the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n Centre between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, so make a point of calling into it during that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunit­y to pick up some excellent reading material for over the Christmas/New Year period.

Donations of books, which must be in a good and clean condition, other than school/text books, will be accepted on that day. Photograph­s and memorial cards found in donated books can be collected at the book sale. Supporting the First Saturday Book Sale supports the Shankill Community.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays – The library will be closed this Friday but open on Saturday. ICA GUILD

The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. GAA CLUB NEWS

The juvenile academy is back in action every Saturday at 10 a.m. in our winter quarters indoors in the gym in St Laurence’s College. Please come along and give the Academy a try. The cost is only €2 per child each week and there is no annual subscripti­on. All equipment is provided free and qualified coaches are always in attendance as it’s all about having fun with your friends.

Last Saturday and Sunday week the under-eight and under – nine girls’ footballer­s were at home to Ranelagh Gaels as were the under-10 boys against Cuala and the under-12 girls away to Ballinteer St John’s. Congratula­tions to the 20 new coaches on completing the Foundation Course.

In the ‘Chase the Ace’ draw in Brady’s here was no jackpot winner – the €50 prize went to Chloe Kelly. Last week’s jackpot was €1,450. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5 available in the pub or from club members. Please note that the next draw will be held after Christmas in order to allow the pub to facilitate its Christmas programme of events.

Shankill and Ballybrack Community First Responders will have a stall at this Sunday year’s Shankill ‘Christmas in the village which takes place on the West side of the Main Street from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Come along, see live CPR demos and have a practice on our dummies. CHRISTMAS IN THE VILLAGE

This Sunday afternoon the Shankill Business Group will hold ‘Christmas in the Village’ in the Main Street from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. This event is hosted each year by Shankill local businesses and traders in co-ordination with Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. There will be numerous stalls, a fun fair, an animal petting farm, face painting, live music, and much much more. Classical Music Club
