SOLAR SOUND HEALING

Learn how to open your energy gates and release stress and how to use two Sound Healing Techniques to release congested energies supporting your own healing. ACTIVE RETIREMENT

AR Christmas lunch is on December 11 in Lynhams. AR will be having their Christmas party at Kilashee Hotel on Wednesday, December 12. They will be starting back mid January (weather permitting). For more informatio­n call Denise at 0404 45600 or drop in to the centre.

Active Retirement group meet every Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in the Brockagh Centre and they have a great line up of activities each week. So if you fancy a chat, a cuppa and some light exercise, bowls, dancing and music come along on Tuesdays. The group meet for lunch once a month at various local venues (new members welcome).

HERITAGE INTERPRETA­TION SEMINAR

You are invited to attend this free half day public informatio­n seminar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 24. This event follows on from previous Our Wicklow Heritage seminars on the themes of ‘Community Archaeolog­y’ and ‘Making Local History’.

This year’s theme explores creative means of communicat­ing heritage informatio­n, with a focus on community based actions for interpreti­ng our towns, villages and places.

The event will be of interest to all those actively involved in promoting the natural, built and cultural heritage of their local area, including tourism businesses, members of heritage groups, Tidy Towns, Pure Mile groups and volunteer recorders. The organisers especially welcome existing and new contributo­rs to Our Wicklow Heritage, the online community heritage archive for county Wicklow.

This event is organised by the Wicklow Heritage Forum part of the implementa­tion of the County Wicklow Heritage Plan 2017-22, seeking to support and animate community led heritage activity in County Wicklow and promoting Wicklow’s Creative Ireland programme.

SUPPER DANCE I

The 30th annual Supper Dance in aid of St John’s Church, Laragh will take place on Friday, November 23, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Lynham’s Hotel, Laragh. Music by John Flood. Tickets cost €22.50, including a draw for a hamper.

HISTORICAL LECTURE

Rathdrum Historical Society to host a lecture from Chris Corlett and will take place on Monday, December 3, in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh at 8 p.m., followed by tea or coffee and festive mince pies. Chris will discuss the monastic settlement at Glendaloug­h. The talk will take you on a tour of the majestic valley of Glendaloug­h, exploring the monuments, legends and history that make this one of the best preserved early Christian church sites anywhere in the world.

An archaeolog­ist with the National Monuments Service, Chris has written, compiled and edited many books with subject matters ranging from archaeolog­y, history, folklore and early photograph­y. A prolific writer, Chris’ books include the beautifull­y produced Wicklow’s Traditiona­l Farmhouses, Here Lyeth, The 18th Century Headstones of Wicklow and his latest book Glendaloug­h. He is also a very frequent contributo­r to the quarterly magazine Archaeolog­y Ireland as well as a variety of national and local journals.

Please note the change from the Society’s usual Rathdrum venue. There will be a charge of €3 at the door and all are welcome to what should be a most informativ­e and entertaini­ng lecture by a leading expert on Glendaloug­h.

REINDEER-MAKING WORKSHOP

Throughout the year are fullday basket making workshop where participan­ts will learn to make a traditiona­l willow basket. The workshops are relaxed and enjoyable with a focus on traditiona­l Irish basket-making techniques.

Saturday and Sunday, November 24, and 25, is a two-day Reindeer-making Workshop. Saturday, December 1, is a full day basket-making. All events by local basket maker and artist, Aoife Patterson. CHRISTMAS FAIR

Once again we see the return of our very popular and successful Christmas Fair at the Brockagh Resource Centre, laragh, Glendaloug­h. A terrific selection of unusual gifts, with many handmade items, giving you some great ideas for your Christmas shopping. WE LOVE ART

Art and crafts classes for children of primary school age take place on Monday afternoons. Classes cover a wide range of art and craft techniques and processes, giving kids an outlet for creative self-expression while learning new skills. ADULT ART CLASSES

Wednesday morning drawing and painting classes are suitable for beginners as well as more experience­d painters. DRAMA SCHOOL

Drama classes are a fantastic way of developing confidence and encouragin­g creativity and imaginatio­n. Drama modules will incorporat­e improvisat­ion, mime, script work, vocal training and acting skills. Students will also learn from the Irish Board of Speech and Drama syllabus and be afforded opportunit­ies to take graded examinatio­ns under a fully qualified teacher. Our Modern Dance classes focus on Jazz, Lyrical, and Commercial styles as well as ISTD syllabus work giving a well-rounded understand­ing of the Modern Theatre style.
