YOGA CLASSES

Yoga in Aughrim. Mixed level classes (beginners welcome) at Aughrim Community Sports Complex. Mondays 9.30 a.m. to 10.45 a.m. and Wednesdays 8 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. A new fourweek course commences on November 19 for the Monday class. Cost €40 or €13 drop in rate. TOWN AND COUNTRY MARKET

Anyone hoping to get an early start on getting Christmas orders or Christmas gift shopping will be happy to know that all the Saturdays from now on are Christmas Markets and they are likely to find that unusual something for that someone special in their life, without the stress and pressure associated with this time of year. Do yourself a favour and visit the committed crafts people and food producers for a welcome country style shopping experience.

Relax over a freshly brewed McCabe organic coffee and choose a tasty from the Menu at the open fire at the Pavilion Café. Enjoy a preview taste by looking and liking at the Aughrim Town and Country Facebook page. The market is held every Sat- urday in the Pavilion, Rednagh Road, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All enquiries to Caroline 086 0865838.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The trip to Newbridge is on Thursday, November 29, Active retirement members will get 20% discount on all silverware products. The bus will leave Lawless’ Hotel at 9.30 a.m. and the cost is €15. Please have the amount due in an envelope with your name on the day. On Friday, November 30, the Network for older people seminar takes place in the Glendaloug­h Hotel. Please register before 10.45 a.m. Cost €5 which includes lunch. Yoga continues next Tuesday the 21st 10.30 a.m. Our final magazine for the moment, issue 20, is now available.

COMMUNITY GAMES

On Monday, November 12, at Wicklow Community Games AGM in the Glendaloug­h Hotel we were named best area in the county. This is all due to the hard work of our volunteers and the support we receive from the local schools and clubs. We will be honoured along with our Steps to Health Silver Award at the National Area, Media and Volunteer Awards in Cavan Crystal Hotel at the end of the month. Well done to our great little area and here’s to 2019.

GAA NEWS

A big thanks to all who supported our race night fundraiser in Joe O’Toole’s recently. To all those who sponsored races, bought horses and attended on the night, all your support is very much appreciate­d. Our AGM is scheduled for Friday, November 30, at 8 p.m., all interested are welcome to attend. This is a great opportunit­y to get involved in your local GAA club.

MEDITATION/ HEALING COURSE

Learn how to Care for and connect with your body. Release tension and fatigue. Harmonise and ground your energy. Stillness meditation. Integrate three key aspects of your Self: Mind Heart and Body. Improve concentrat­ion and focus. Open to the power of life. Explore the healing power of the deeper self: moving from mindfulnes­s to heartfulne­ss.

Venue: Lawless Hotel Aughrim. Dates: November 24/25. January 25/26 (10 p.m. to 5 p.m.) each day. Fee: €75 for each one day module. There are four modules in total. Ann is certified by the Jade Sun School to facilitate this Program. She is also a registered Solar Sound Healing Practition­er and Tai Chi and Qi Gong instructor.

NEW TO YOU THRIFT SHOP

We are appealing for donations of saleable goods – bricà-brac, clothing, small pieces of furniture toys etc. If you have something that you have no further use for but feel it would suit someone else please donate. The sale of the goods goes towards the upkeep of the Pavilion, Fishing Park and the village of Aughrim. CLEAN UP AND PAINT

Clean Up and paint sessions take place every Saturday and Sunday from 11 p.m. to 2 p.m. Meet at Tinakilly Bridge. The project is to be completed by November 28.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

On Sunday, December 2, the well establishe­d Christmas Fair organised by the Aughrim Business Associatio­n will take place in Lawless’ Hotel from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Many small local businesses present their crafts and services and attract a lot of customers. The numbers 10, 16, 17 and 27 were drawn in the sports club lotto on Monday last, November 12, The jackpot was not won. There were no match-three winners. The jackpot is €3,900.
