CREDIT UNION’S €2,000 DONATION TO LAKERS

BRAY CREDIT UNION has presented Lakers with a donation of €2,000 towards sports equipment.

This follows a catastroph­ic fire in which the club lost its premises, transport and all of its equipment. Lakers has a new temporary premises on the Florence Road, to replace the Brady Centre which was ex- tensively damaged in the fire on October 5.

They are back up and running with classes and activities back on a full schedule with the headquarte­rs now the old school building from the St Andrew’s Church community.

The club, which provides social and recreation­al activities for adults and children with intellectu­al disabiliti­es, has been given the loan of four buses since losing their own four in the fire. The club said that they received numerous offers of accommodat­ion, for which they are hugely grateful.

The club is fundraisin­g for a new premises, with donations accepted at a gofundme. com page called ‘Lakers - we need a home’.
