-

THERE are still some place left on a one day course covering all the working elements of setting up a simple bookkeeping system on Microsoft Excel.

The course, organised by Local Enterprise Office Wicklow, takes place on Thursday. November 28, at Wicklow County Campus in Rathnew from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The objective of this course it to make the attendees comfortable in using excel, and giving them the basic knowledge to develop their bookkeeping system.

Participants will learn how to use excel, how to set up your bookkeeping system, the use of Formula and links, the use of ‘if ’ formulas and how to create same, pivot tables, formatting your information, exporting information from ROS, backing-up your data and any other issues or items as requested by the group.

The trainer delivering the course will be Emma McKernan, a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland, and Accounting Technicians Ireland. She worked, and trained, in a medium size firm for five years, where she became proficient in general bookkeeping, accounts preparation, tax matters, and Audit. After that she obtained a position with KPMG, before founding McK- ernan & Co.

The course works in conjunction with ‘Bookkeeping for Small Business’ course which covers basic accounting principles. The two courses have been kept separate, so that participants do not have to complete both courses if they are already proficient in one area. It would be imperative that participants who are not completing the theory course ensure they have a strong understanding of Bookkeeping principles before undertaking this one-day computer course.
