A special day for young stars

A super day in Newtown

-

A big crowd of young soccer players attended the Parkview Hotel in Newtown from early morning to late Sunday afternoon to receive their awards and medals after a busy season.

From competitive league winners and league runners up, to participation medals, to the interim season finals, where all teams reached a final and received winners and runners up medals, a huge number of young footballers were rewarded for their exploits on the day. .

‘We were delighted to have had Aine O’Gorman attend the awards day and present our WDSL Academy girls with their medals and certificates,’ said a WDSL spokesperson. ‘Aine also presented last year’s Kennedy Cup Squad with their jerseys with names on them as part of their memorabilia.

‘Tables were then turned as Aine was presented with an award for her achievements in the game, from her representing Wicklow 15 years ago in the Kennedy Cup to receiving 100 caps for Ireland, from the WDSL.

‘A fantastic way to end the season,’ they added.
