Wicklow’s Lizin TV courtroomdrama

November 2002

-

IT’S the trial of the year in TV soapland. as the State takes on Leo Dowling and Carol Meehan in a bid to get them locked up for murder.

But not if Liz Collard from Wicklow has anything to do with it. In this week’s special episodes of Fair City, Liz plays the Junior Counsel defending Leo, who is being prosecuted for the killing of gangland boss Billy Meehan.

The episodes involving Liz, a resident of Glebemount in Wicklow town, will be broadcast in a one hour special this week which is set to pull in some of RTE’s highest ratings figures for 2002. It was the Wicklow woman’s first time to try television acting.

‘It was a great experience and I enjoyed doing it and seeing how it was done, and I enjoyed meeting all of the different actors that are on it,’ she said.

However, she wouldn’t fancy it on a long-term basis. ‘I am a Fair City fan but I wouldn’t be into the hours they work!’ she laughed.

Regular followers of Fair City will be well aware that the Leo/Billy/Carol storyline has been building for some time.

But who, if anyone, will be found guilty at the end? ‘I know, but I’m not saying,’ Liz says.
