TRIPS

There will be a five-day trip to Slovenia on April 4 to April 9 at a cost of €699 per person sharing. As there are limited places a deposit of €200 is required asap.

There will be a tour of Scotland in August/September dates to be decided and a Westport country music break in October 2019 which includes some day trips. For more details please contact Susan at 087 6273032.

CANCER SUPPORT

Roundwood Cancer Support are excited to announce that their centre will be open before Christmas. The exact date to be finalised in the next week. They are now looking for volunteers to drive patients to their treatments in the various hospitals. If you are interested please contact Roundwood Cancer Support at 087 6062072.

CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHT UP

Get your Santa hats and jumpers ready in Roundwood and Moneystown as the Christmas tree lights will be turned on in the village and everyone is invited to come along to make it a special community event to mark the start of the Christmas festivitie­s. The lights will be switched after 6 p.m. Mass (circa 6.45 p.m.) on Saturday, December 8, in the grounds of Roundwood Garda Station. Festive refreshmen­ts will be available afterwards in the Parish Hall.

TALK ON WILLS/POWER OF ATTORNEY.

Roundwood Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group will host a talk and discussion by a qualified Solicitor on Wills and Enduring Power of Attorney on tonight Wednesday, November 28, at 8 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Admission is free, and refreshmen­ts will be served.

SET DANCE NIGHT

A set dancing Christmas party night will take place on Friday, December 7, in the Mill room, Kilcoole with music by Templemich­ael ceili band. Refreshmen­ts served on the night.

PARISH SALE OF WORK

This Sunday all roads lead to the Roundwood and Moneystown Parish Sale of work which takes place in the GAA Complex from 12 4 p.m. This is always a great community event.

Donations of home baking and produce are most welcome and can be brought to the complex before midday on Sunday, or dropped into Maureen in the parish office between 9.15 and 1 p.m. (Tue-Thurs). Also needed are bottles for the bottle stall.

There are lots of fantastic prizes in the Grand Raffle (tickets are on sale in Roundwood post office and HD Hair Design now) and also delicious Christmas cakes, Christmas floral arrangemen­ts, toy shop and Christmas turkey vouchers to raffle and more to be won on the day. It’s the place to get your Christmas wreaths and floral displays which are all made and donated by local people.

The word on the street is that the real Santa (who was on duty last year) has cleared his schedule and is making his way back after a much needed rest. Get your Santa hat and your outrageous Christmas jumper ready.

ANNAMOE BOWLS

Annamoe bowls continues on Tuesday night and all newcomers are very welcome. So why not come along and give it a try.

Monday, November 19, saw John Loscher and Marie Kavanagh take first place for North/ South, second Séamus Kennedy and Pauric Gleeson, third Ger Lenihan and Margaret Bolger and fourth place went to Kay Plunkett and Mary Pierce. Victors for East/ West were Rowena Brady and Paddy O’Brien, second Bridie Nolan and Phil Power, third Margaret Byrne and Maura Gaskin and fourth Clare Sally and Pamela Byrne.

The Roundwood Parish Centre car boot sales have finished for the winter and will resume in the spring.

ROUNDWOOD WHIZZERS

Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action meeting at 7 p.m. every Wednesday at the Coach House car park. All welcome to walk at your own pace for approximat­ely one hour.

ANGEL HEALING

Angel Healing and Angelic Guidance is back on Monday evenings in the Parish Hall Roundwood at 7.30. So if you would enjoy an evening of peace relaxation and hands on energy healing join us for a wonderful new experience.

The results of the whist is as follows: Top score: Kitty Kennedy and Tom McHugh (shared) Second Gent: Pat Fisher, Top Lady: Catherine Doyle, Second Lady: Mary Pierce, First Half: Mick Whelan, Second Half: Ann Gaffney, Longest Sitting: Marie Magee and lowest score: Jimmy Molloy. Raffle prizes were won by Maura McHugh, Marie Magee, Margaret Kennedy and Tiney Shortt. The next whist is this Wednesday, December 5, in the Parish Centre, Roundwood.

LOTTO RESULTS

CEILI DANCING LESSONS

Adult ceili dancing classes are held every Wednesday night in the parish hall from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Learn to solo dance and also group dances under the tuition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear.

MONEYSTOWN 45

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at a new time of 8 p.m. for the winter months beginning on October 30 Tea served.
