Santa will arrive in Enniskerry Village at the Town Clock at 2 p.m. on Sunday. There will be a chance for young children to visit Santa’s Grotto and of course the Christmas Tree at the Town Clock will have lights galore on it.
ART AND CRAFTS
There are fantastic local crafts on sale in the Parish Hall for the next four Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6, 00 p.m. A visit is a must to see and buy wonderful work by local Enniskerry people. Admission is free.

Powerscourt National School: This year’s musical is ‘The Snow Queen’ and we look forward to performing it in December. All the senior pupils have been cast and we are beginning to learn lines and songs. This musical is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale about Gerda’s quest to save her brother from the Snow Queen.

Parish Assembly Report: A wonderful gathering of parishioners took place, last Tuesday week evening in the Summerhill Hotel, when we came together for our Parish Assembly. Our agenda was to look at new ways forward for us as a parish community. All four church communities, Enniskerry, Kilmacanogue, Curtlestown and Glencree, were well represented. We began with a relaxed chat over tea and biscuits, generously provided by our hosts, the Summerhill Hotel, who made us feel very welcome. The formal session began with a few words from Fr Bernard, who set the spiritual tone for the evening, Then John Welsby (Chair of the Parish Pastoral Council) welcomed our facilitator, Donal Harrington (author of ‘Tomorrow’s Parish: a Vision and a Path’). Ottalie Dwyer, PPC, gave a clear explanation of the beautiful visual display, created by Mairead Mur- phy, PPC, which pictured the role of the Parish Pastoral Council in symbolic form. This was followed by a meditation read by Sally Phalan, PPC, then Donal began the workshop session with a prayer. The main part of the evening was skilfully facilitated by Donal. He created a space for us to listen to one another and kept us all on task. We engaged in a series of exercises, working in small groups. First we listened, in silence, to a series of questions being read aloud. We had time to write down our thoughts individually, and then we shared them and discussed them in our small groups. This was followed by a whole group session allowing the small groups to feed their main points back to everyone, and lively discussion followed. At the conclusion of the evening, everyone was invited to fill in a Contact Information Form in order to receive feedback from the Parish Assembly, and notice of future parish events. Great thanks to all who were involved in making our Parish Assembly so successful.
Follow on from Assembly – Invitation to all Parishioners: While we were happy with the turnout, we know that many parishioners who would have liked to come were unable to attend for various reasons. We are therefore extending an invitation to all parishioners to participate, even at this stage, by making the questions available and inviting everyone to submit their answers. We really want to hear as many voices as possible as we seek new ways forward as a parish. Parish Assembly Questions forms and Contact Information forms are available in the churches for the coming week, and those who give us their contact details will receive full feedback from the Parish Assembly as well as being kept in touch with various exciting innovations that we hope to offer our parish in the coming months. St Mochonog’s: Calling All Volunteers. We would like to provide tea or coffee and refreshments after Mass in Kilmacanogue on certain Sundays and special occasions. The next meeting of the Enniskerry History Society will take place at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, in the Powerscourt Arms and Country House Hotel at which Carmel Cullen will present her lecture ‘The History of Delia Murphy’ – all welcome, admission €5.

MEALS ON WHEELS
Meals on Wheels operates in Enniskerry and Kilmacanogue and delivers hot meals every Tuesday and Thursday to older people in their homes. It’s an opportunity to connect with the community and provide a hot meal and social contact call to older people in the area. We are looking for volunteer drivers who can give up two or three hours twice a month to facilitate this much needed service.
