‘No plans’ to upgrade garda station

A REQUEST at Monday’s Joint Policing Committee meeting for upgrades to Blessington Garda Station was met with the news that nothing would be done in the foreseeable future as other stations are in more urgent need of attention.

Cllr Gerry O’Neill asked if there are any plans to improve Blessington by Chief Supt Quirke said that there is nothing on the agenda for impoving the west Wicklow station.

‘A key priority is the redevelopment of Greystones Garda Station. The current station is appalling and staff are working in ridiculous conditions,’ said Chief Supt Quirke, who also confirmed that Donard Garda Station is to open in the new year when upgrade works are completed.
