A man who spat and lashed out at gar­dai, af­ter they had chased him down, was sen­tenced to three months.

Mark Far­relly (24), 8 Bel­camp Grove, Pri­or­swood, Dublin 17, ap­peared in Bray District Court where he ad­mit­ted as­sault and ob­struc­tion, as well as fail­ing to ap­pear on a pre­vi­ous oc­ca­sion.

The court heard that on Au­gust 29, 2018, he was a pas­sen­ger in a ve­hi­cle stopped by gar­daí. Gar­daí de­cided to search Far­relly un­der the mis­use of drugs act, but he fled. Af­ter a foot chase he was ar­rested.

The court heard that Far­relly was very ag­gres­sive, spit­ting at one of the gar­daí and lash­ing out at another two.

His pre­vi­ous of­fences in­cluded vi­o­lent dis­or­der, dam­ag­ing prop­erty, rob­bery, un­law­ful pos­ses­sion of drugs and ar­son.
