A man who spat and lashed out at gardai, after they had chased him down, was sentenced to three months.

Mark Farrelly (24), 8 Belcamp Grove, Priorswood, Dublin 17, appeared in Bray District Court where he admitted assault and obstructio­n, as well as failing to appear on a previous occasion.

The court heard that on August 29, 2018, he was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by gardaí. Gardaí decided to search Farrelly under the misuse of drugs act, but he fled. After a foot chase he was arrested.

The court heard that Farrelly was very aggressive, spitting at one of the gardaí and lashing out at another two.

His previous offences included violent disorder, damaging property, robbery, unlawful possession of drugs and arson.
