Scór na nÓg finals bring out the best!

WICKLOW’S Scór na nÓg took place recently with some wonderful performances on the day in St Kevin’s Hall in Blessington.

Scór in all its forms has suffered badly from lack of numbers in recent years but that didn’t stop a dedicated and talented crowd of comptitors from various clubs in Wicklow from entering the competition and impressing the judges.

‘As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Scór nationally, Wicklow has plenty to be proud of when it comes to our achievements in the competition down through the years,’ said Wicklow’s Irish and Cultural officer Kathryn Noone.

‘From All-Ireland success to those who participate in a county final, great enjoyment and a sense of club and county pride is what we aim to promote. Our determination to achieve this aim can be seen in the entries for our Scór County Finals which include a number of new clubs each year.

‘This year the county final took place in St Kevin’s Hall and it was a great afternoon with new and returning acts taking to the stage.

‘Hosted by Blessington GAA Club and under the watchful eye of Catherine Behan, Noreen Keegan Kavanagh, Fear an Ti Pat Molloy did a great job in making the day a fun and entertaining experience. We are delighted to have a competitor in every section bar Set Dancing for the Leinster semi-final. The winners who go on to represent their clubs and Co. Wicklow in Allenwood on Sunday, December 9 are:

Recitation: Sophia Behan, Blessington.

Ballad Group: Kilbride GAA. Leiriu Staitse: Blessington GAA. Instrumental Group: The Trad Lads, Blessington GAA
