Stolen taxi was used in shop rob­bery

A TAXI stolen in the Swords area was sub­se­quently used in a rob­bery in Del­gany on Christ­mas Eve, ac­cord­ing to local gar­daí.

Su­per­in­ten­dent Pat Ward of Bray Garda Sta­tion said that two males en­tered the Mini Mart premises in the vi­lage at around 2.30 p.m. on De­cem­ber 24.

‘ There was a sig­nif­i­cant amount of money on the premises,’ said Supt Ward.

The two men, who were armed with a bro­ken bot­tle and an iron bar, de­manded cash be­fore leav­ing the scene.

The car, a sil­ver Toy­ota Prius with taxi plates, was later found at the park and ride in Grey­stones and is be­ing ex­am­ined by gar­daí.

The gardai are ask­ing any­one who may have seen any­thing sus­pi­cious in the area on the day to con­tact Grey­stones Garda Sta­tion on 01 6665800.

Supt Ward said that they are cur­rently fol­low­ing a cer­tain line of en­quiry.
