In­jured bouncer re­leased from hos­pi­tal

A SE­CU­RITY of­fi­cer in­jured in a brawl in Bray has been re­leased from hos­pi­tal.

The in­ci­dent took place at McGet­ti­gan’s bar some time af­ter mid­night on New Year’s Eve. The bouncer re­ceived a head in­jury and was hos­pi­talised on the night.

Su­per­in­ten­dent Pat Ward of Bray Garda Sta­tion said that gar­daí are in­ves­ti­gat­ing al­le­ga­tions of as­sault and of­fences of af­fray linked to the in­ci­dent.

Supt Ward said that gar­daí are ex­am­in­ing CCTV and in or­der to es­tab­lish how many peo­ple were in­volved.

He said that units from Bray, Grey­stones and a num­ber of out­ly­ing sta­tions re­sponded quickly to the out­break of the fight at the Main Street premises. There were up to three or four pa­trol cars at the scene. One per­son was ar­rested and the in­ci­dent re­mains un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

While there was some dam­age caused, the es­tab­lish­ment was able to open for busi­ness later in the day.
