A gathering of women to mark the final day in Christmas diary

- By MARY FOGARTY

BRAY and District Soroptimists celebrated ‘Nollaig na mBan’ at Ocean café in Bray last Sunday, January 6.

Known by a number of names, including Little Christmas, Women’s Christmas and the Feast of the Epiphany, this is traditionally the day when women are urged to put their feet up and take it easy.

It is also the last day of the Christmas season, and the superstitious among us believe that it is bad luck to leave the decorations up past January 6.

The women of Bray and Dis- trict Soroptimists enjoyed a delicious meal at the Ocean to celebrate the occasion.

The objectives of the club are to maintain high ethical standards in business, in the professions and in all other aspects of life.

They aim to strive for human rights for all people and in particular to advance the status of women.

Funds are raised for a number of charities in Bray and Greystones.

The Bray and District Group reflected on a successful year and looked forward to another 12 months of helping the community.
