Town fight back for share of spoils

-

Division 3

Arklow Town fought back from 3-1 down at the break to earn a share of the spoils in an exciting Division 3 clash against Conary United on Sunday.

Conary began the game with a bang and were 2-0 up after 20 minutes through Andy Doyle and Pascal O’Reilly.

Cian Bolger hammered a sweet volley into the bottom corner from an Edward Dunne corner on the half hour to get the Arklow back into the game but O’Reilly’s sec- ond gave Conary a 3-1 advantage at the interval.

Arklow pushed forward to try to get themselves back into the game and got their reward when Peter Walker found the head of centre back Donal O’Keefe to make it 3-2.

Town left it late to rescue a point, grabbing the equaliser with 93 minutes on the clock. A well-taken free-kick from Peter Walker resulted in a scramble in the box, and although the goalkeeper made a great save from Dean Doyle, George Byrne was there to put it away with the last kick of the game.
