WICKLOW ROVERS

Our Senior ‘B’ team were back in action at the weekend when they travelled to take on Aughrim Rangers in the Wicklow Cup.

A very youthful Rovers won 4-3 on penalties after the teams were all square at 1-1 after extra-time. Stuart Cox gave Rovers a 1-0 halftime lead from the penalty spot.

The home side levelled also from the spot to send the game to extra-time.

This failed to produce a winner so it was on to the dreaded penalty shootout.

Stuart Cox, Robert Talaga, Hugh Humby and Adam Cuddihy were all successful with their spotkicks with Colin Smullen producing a vital penalty save to see Rovers progress to the next round.
