- By MYLES BUCHANAN

ONE-HUNDRED-AND FOURTEEN people participated in the first Saturday park run of the new year at Avondale Forest Park.

Of those taking part, 34 were first timers and nine recorded new personal bests. Overall there were representatives pres- ent from nine different clubs.

There was also a warm welcome to Avondale for some tourists who usually involve themselves in the park runs at Russborough House and Tralee.

The park run due to take place on Saturday, February 23, at Avondale is cancelled due to the Wicklow Hospice Foundation 5k, 10k and half marathon. To avail of early bird prices book before the end of January by visiting www.itsplainsailing.com/ club/wicklowhospice. There will be a 9 a.m. start time, with registration starting at 8 a.m..
