Kilmac says sad farewell to Bridie, Jen and Ted

-

The local community was in mourning for three current and former members of the parish who died recently.

The Quill Road lost one of its finest ladies on December 30 when Bridie Brady (pictured right) slipped away peacefully in the care of the staff of St Vincent’s University Hospital.

Bridie was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Bridget Brady and sister of the late Lar and she will be sadly missed by her brothers Seán and Vincent, sisters-in-law Anne and Philomena, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In Kilmacanogue of course, we all remember Bridie as the bubbly shop assistant in the Old Kempton’s Shop in the village and of latter years, in the Silverwell Stores in the Rocky Valley where she worked with Grania O’Brien.

Her Funeral Mass took place on Wednesday (January 2) in St Mochonog’s Church where a large crowd gathered to bid a final farewell to a true lady. Rest in Peace Bridie.

ANOTHER sad passing took place when Jenneke (Jen) Bouman (right) of Stilebawn, Glencormac died on January 2, aged 92 in the care of staff at St Vincent’s University Hospital, following a brief illness.

Jen will be fondly remembered not only by all her family and friends in her birthplace of the Netherlands but her many friends in Ireland where she has lived since the 70s, and particularly all her neighbours in Stilebawn that knew this wonderful character that was always so ‘Happy-go-lucky’.

A celebration of Jen’s life will be held in Colliers Funeral Home, Old Connaught Avenue, Bray this Thursday (January 10) at 11.30 a.m. if you would like to attend as the cremation afterwards is private.

ANOTHER man with close Kilmacanogue connections passed away peacefully late on New Year’s Eve. Teddy Gunning (left) , late of Bray slipped away peacefully at the home of his Granddaughter in Carnew where he has resided since 2016.

He was the dearly loved husband of the late Maisie (Kearney from Stilebawn) and loving father of the late Valerie (O’ Sullivan) and will be very sadly missed by his daughters Angela and Carol, sons Paul and Ken, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Ronnie, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Teddy was a regular visitor to Kilmacanogue, a place he held dear and most weekends came up to Stilebawn with Maisie to visit her sister Connie.

His removal took place in St Mochonog’s Church on Saturday morning (fifth) for Funeral Mass followed by Interment in adjoining cemetery. Rest in Peace Teddy.
