Refurbishm­ent of Holy Redeemer Church and Parish Centre: As announced recently plans are being prepared to refurbish our church and Parish Centre during this year subject to raising the required funds. You are invited to pick up our special pamphlet on the way out of Mass today, if you haven’t received one already. All contributi­ons, large or small, will be greatly appreciate­d. Thanks to all of you who have already contribute­d to this worthwhile project. If you haven’t done so yet you can return your donations/pledge form to the parish office or drop it into the sacristy at your convenienc­e. Where your contributi­on exceeds €250 in any one year a refund of tax paid can be claimed by the parish from Revenue under the Charitable Donations Scheme. The parish office will make the necessary arrangemen­ts to make this claim.

Signed Mass Cards: Are looked after by the priests of the parish and are available only in the parish office or in the sacristy.

Confirmati­on 2019: This Sunday at the 6 p.m. Mass we extend a warm welcome to the children and their parents who are preparing for Confirmati­on in 2019.

Masses for the Beginning of January 2019: Today (Wednesday) to this Friday: 10 a.m. Mass only. No Evening Mass.

The Coffee Dock: The Coffee Dock re-opened last Monday after the 10 a.m. Mass.

Postage Stamps for the Missions: Save all your postage stamps for the Missions. Please leave a minimum of 1/4’ around the stamp and hand them into the sacristy or parish office.

QOP YOUTH CLUB

Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club reopens on Friday, January 11, with a proposed and enlarged programme for the year for ratificati­on by the membership. The number of events proposed are well in excess of 120 with many new and challengin­g items.

DIVING CLUB

Wicklow Aquanauts (Bray Divers) is the least expensive sub-aqua club in the country to join at the present. The instructor­s enjoy training new members to partake in the sport, and the certificat­ion is recognised worldwide. A dive trip to Lanzarote is planned for the middle of February, and trainees who join now may be experience­d sufficient­ly to come along on this holiday. CUALANN SOCIETY

Meetings of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow will resume at 8 p.m. on Jan- uary 16 in the Royal Hotel, Bray when the AGM of the society will take place and will be followed by a talk by James Scannell recalling ‘The Closure of the Harcourt, Street, Dublin – Bray line, December 31, 1958’ to mark the 60th anniversar­y of the line’s closure. All members are requested to attend the AGM – admission for visitors to the talk – €5.

In the meantime three events which may be of interest to members and supporters of the Bray Cualann Historical Society are tonight’s (Wednesday) 8 p.m. AGM of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society in Rathmichae­l National School, Stonebridg­e Road (Dublin Road end), Shankill, Co. Dublin, after which Richard Dolan will present his talk ‘Rathmichae­l: Past, Present and Future’. Members and supporters of the Bray Cualann Historical Society are asked to note that January 12 is the last date to obtain a copy of the Old Bray Society’s special issue of the Bray Historical Record – ‘First World War Special Issue’ which recalls those from county Wicklow, who took part in this conflict from the Town Hall Bookshop, 23 Florence Road, Bray, before this renown bookshop closes.

ONE ACT DRAMA FESTIVAL

The Bray One Act Drama Festival 2019 will be bringing a wonderful mix of comedy and drama to the stage. Performed by both newcomers and seasoned performers, these plays are sure to provide five nights of entertainm­ent, with all proceeds going to charitable causes.

We are delighted to welcome Chrissie Poulter back to the festival as our adjudicato­r, and of course, the loyal festival audience who support the Bray One Act Festival each year.
