Avonmore ‘9 to 5’ cast announced

-

AVONMORE Musical Society has unveiled its cast for this year’s show the Dolly Parton Musical ‘9 to 5’.

The cast is as follows: Violet – Jenny Lee, Judy – Denise Brennan, Doralee – Eimear Harper, Roz – Dearbhla Mc Creesh, Franklin Hart Jr – TBC, while Missy is being played by – Genevieve Molloy, Joe – TBC, Dwyane – Brian Harty, Dick – Tomas Byrne, Josh – Padraig O’Leary, Tinsworthy – Robert Donnelly, Marie – Tara Boukhima, Margaret – Joanne Logue, Kathy – Sharon Byrne, backed up by a large chorus.

This year’s show is the society’s 40th anniversary production and will run from April 23 to 27.

Featuring all Dolly Parton’s classic hits, it is based on the 1980 smash hit film in which Dolly Parton starred and the book by Patricia Resnick.

‘9 to 5’ is about Three unlikely friends take control of their office and learn there is nothing they can’t do, even in a man’s world.

Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic.

Pushed to the boiling point, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot!

While Hart remains ‘otherwise engaged’, the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she?

This high-energy show has a jubilant score and easily relatable characters.

Chorus rehearsals for the show commence on Wednesday, January 16, at 7.30 p.m. in St Mary’s College, Arklow with Amy Penston doing Voice Rehearsals, while Dance Rehearsals with Martina Lynch take place on Thursday 17, again in St Mary’s College, Arklow, at 7.30 p.m.

The chorus is open to members who are aged over 16 (or in transition year). Men are especially welcome, so why not come out and give it a go.

Further information is available from society secretary Karen Kavanagh at 087 2498691 or any committee member.
