Five-star Newtown move to top spot

Newtown United moved to the top of the Andy McEvoy Premier Division with a five-star performanc­e against Glencormac United at the Matt Kelly Memorial Grounds on Sunday.

Dean Odlum and Neilly Martin both bagged doubles for the Magpies, with Shane Doyle also getting in on the act.

St Peter’s slipped to second spot as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Carnew AFC. Jake Kane and Jamie Kelly scored for the Bray outfit, with JJ McCrea and Cillian Gilligan hitting the back of the net for Carnew.

Pat O’Toole Division 1

John Carton delivered the goods once again for Wicklow Town on Sunday as they saw off St Anthony’s in their Pat O’Toole Division 1 encounter.

Carton bagged both goals for the winners in a 2-0 triumph.

Division 3

Conary United are going along nicely in Division 3 and on Sunday they got another three points on the board when overcoming Carnew FC B 4-1.

PJ Fluskey, Pascal O’Reilly, Andy Doyle and Stephen Roche hit the back of the net for the winners, with Clinton Murphy and Paddy Adair replying for Carnew.

Shamrock Celtic picked up three points without having to kick a ball as they were handed a walkover from Arklow United C.

John Tobin Youths League

Kian Marah was to the ‘four’ for Ashford Rovers as they romped to a 6-0 triumph over Arklow Town in their John Tobin Youths League match on Saturday.

The impressive Marah hit the back of the net four times, while Nathan O’Sullivan scored a fine effort from outside the box and Adam Crean added to their handsome tally.

Dale Fluskey was the star man for Avonmore AFC as they chalked up a 4-1 win over Arklow United.

Fluskey helped himself to a hat-trick, with Dean Carter getting their other goal and Ethan Curran replying for United.
