It was with great sadness we said fairwell to Aodh O’Neill last week. Aodh was a great club man and will be greatly missed by us all. We sympathise with his family on his very sad passing. Go raibh leaba aige I measc na naomh.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Athletics training is back from this Monday, January 14, and every week from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. All school going children are very welcome. A new year begins with activities starting in February. Chess is been offered in 2019 by Séamus Duffy, who is beginning classes in Aughrim National School this Wednesday after school from 2.45 p.m. If interested please contact him directly at 087 3141029. We would hope to be able to enter an under-13 mixed Chess team into the Community Games competitio­n. Its not all about physical sports but cultural talent too. There is something for everybody in Community Games.

45 CARD GAME

There is a 45 Card game on January 18 in the Saltee, starting at 9 p.m.

COFFEE MORNING.

2018 Wicklow Rose Lorna Mallick is hosting a coffee morning and raffle on Saturday, January 19, 10.30 a.m. – 12: 30 in Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely.

All money raised will go directly to Vesnova Children’s Mental Asylum Orphanage in Belarus where she will volunteer with Adi Roche’s Chernobyl Children Internatio­nal in February. All support would be greatly appreciate­d.

BALLYELLIS NATIONAL SCHOOL

Friday, January 11, winner of split-the-pot is Rory Butler, park, Ballyellis – winning €151. We thank everyone for supporting split-the-pot. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Masses in Askamore Church. Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.

THE VILLAGE PANTRY

The Village Pantry has been open seven days a week for four and a half years. Since January is the quietest month they have decided to give their hard-working volunteers a break by closing on Saturdays for the next few weeks.

The Village Pantry will not open on Saturday, January 12, 19, 26 and February 2.

They are always looking for more volunteers, the more people who are involved, the less the pressure on everyone. If you are interested in getting involved, please get in touch with any member of Rathdangan Community Council.

RATHDANGAN DRAMA GROUP

Rathdangan Drama Group will be performing their play ‘Try anything twice’ by William Rocke over two weekends, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 22, 23 and 24 and the following weekend on March 1, 2, three.

This is a comedy that follows the antics of Michael McGowan after his wife wins a Glamorous Grandmothe­r contest and brings home suave womanizer Clive Cartwright as her prize. Tickets will be available soon for purchase.
